Er. Bashir Ahmad Khan

Born in Lankrishpora village in Bandipora district in northern part of Kashmir, Khan completed schooling from his home district before moving to Regional Engineering College (REC) – now NIT Srinagar – at Hazratbal, Srinagar in 1975.

He pursued bachelors in engineering in electrical stream and graduated from REC in 1980.
Khan was appointed as Junior Engineer (JE) in PDD in 1981 in ‘Load Despatch and Metal Testing Division’ at Bemina, Srinagar. Since then, his career saw organic growth.

Subsequently, Khan was promoted to the level of chief engineer (M&RE) in the year 2013. He was transferred and later posted as first CE PDD’s ‘Project Wing’ in the fall of 2016. Khan played key role in preparation, vetting and sanction of centrally sponsored flagship schemes like R-APDRP, DDUGJY, IPDS and PMDP.

For his “honesty, integrity and meritorious public service”, Khan was awarded with Chief Minister’s Gold Medal on August 15, 2015.
